************* Eco-friendly holiday cottages !
******************************************** Be green in Herefordshire !
The house and the two lovely 4 Star Litmarsh Farm Holiday Cottages have their origins in the 17th century, and are all Grade 2 listed. They are typical “black and white” Herefordshire buildings, constructed from original oak timber frames. Herefordshire is a very green and beautiful county of quiet villages, big open skies, peaceful rivers, and romantic mistletoe-clad orchards. It is at the heart of the ‘Marches’, the historic English borderlands with Wales, and is the setting for Brian Viner’s ‘Tales of the Country’, and is a very green and pleasant land.
If you had visited Litmarsh Farm many years ago you would have found only cider orchards and pigs, but now we have two extremely comfortable and environmentally friendly holiday cottages [Green Tourism Silver Award]. They have been converted from the original barn and cider press , are ideal for relaxing holidays, and also as a place to nurture, renew and restore the spirit. Each cottage sleeps up to 5 people, both have brand new kitchens and newly modernised bathrooms, and we provide all bed linen and towels. A truly green holiday in a green environment !
... Our wildlife pond, frog and toad sanctuary !
Litmarsh is a peaceful rural hamlet in idyllic countryside, well away from main roads, but only a few miles from either the Cathedral City of Hereford or the medieval market town of Leominster. There are many footpaths, with rivers, lakes, woodland and nature reserve (good for bird-watching) all nearby, frogs and toads in the garden and visitors comment on the birdsong (inc. resident sparrows) and the bright starry nights, and the sense of peace and tranquillity.
The cottages are available for long and short breaks, or weekend getaways, and although most people prefer to be self–catering, we also offer our informal B & B option (DIY B & B!). We are easy to get to, by car or public transport, and we even have a very good rural bus service to Hereford, with direct trains from there to Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, Oxford and London.
